My name’s Lisa Caldwell, and I’m a lover of things creative in many forms – architecture, photography, painting, poetry, sculpture, music and theatre.
I write – all sorts of stuff – and I paint. While I’ve always loved writing, I hated art lessons with an undisguised passion at school, and never dreamt that I would ever touch a paintbrush again. But I felt a strong calling to apply paint to paper and here I am. I’m not saying my painting’s any good, mind, I’m simply amazed that I now consider painting an enjoyable hobby rather than a twice-weekly torture session.
I’ve always thought of myself as a Yorkshire woman, as that’s where I was born and bred. But, I’ve now lived on the other side of the Pennines for almost as long, so maybe I should consider myself a Mancunian. Or a curious hybrid of the two – a Penninian. I’m not sure labels mean much. Wherever I’ve lived I’ve loved.
